Hi there,

I need to get stuff from my hard drive onto my computer, and I'm not sure whether this cable:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-to-SATA-Serial-ATA-15-7-22P-Adapter-Cable-For-2-5-Laptop-Hard-Drive-HDD-SSD-/190698939490

...will work with my hard drive.
It came out of my old MacBook Pro
120GB
It says SATA on it somewhere
The connexions are a set of 15 gold plated contact points in a line (I presume is for power) and a shorter line next to that of 7 contact points (I presume is for data)
It is made by Fujitsu

The connections look like this from the end

-------------¬ ı-------

It has a diagram saying this:

-------------¬ ı------
SATA power serial data
Caution: please attach all cables securely blaa blaa blaa...

Hope someone can help...

Quenton

If your hard drive is a 2.5 laptop SATA drive, then yes, the cable should work.
Just be aware that if you removed the drive from a computer running MAC os system and if you are trying to connect it to a windows machine you will need special drivers like the MacDrive tool. Apart from that the drive should work as expected from a usb to sata adaptor (not very reliable, blá blá blá ....) as it's allways best to connect it directly to a SATA port on the motherboard of the PC (if it's a desktop).
Regards.

Bigger question is why trying to get files off the drive in thus manner? If it is failed, then using the USB cable is not a good plan.
