My company builds server and workstation, and we are getting to the point were we are shipping 200+ HDDs a month in all our systems. At the same time my company throws out HDD all the time because there warranty has expired and there was an error or two reported by a smart test.
I am looking for a way to test and burn-in all the new hard drives before they are used in any system. Also Testing returning HDDs that have errors and see if they are repaired. I found one on jharddrive.com called "SAS/SATA Rack - Industrial Hard Drive Recertification System". Hitachi has one too, but they are the only ones i have seen so far. I would like to know if i am going in the right direction, and is there any other system out there? I am open for new ideas or other solutions that could do this for me.
Please forgive me if what I am asking for something stupid. I am not an expert, I just see a need to improve the reliability of the system I ship. There is also a huge opportunity in tying to recertify the older HDDs at the same time.
