Hi,

Does anyone use this snake camera endoscope?
Was looking at it due to small 5.5mm diameter with built in led & 4x zoom.

I bought a 25m one. I planned to use it in the boat, but no time for fishing now

It is kind of ok, but the picture is not fantastic. I haven't tried to capture from microscope or really take any pics of DR stuff, I can try tonight and post some pics if you like.

Thanks, was just thinking if placing at the edge of the platters & looking between the gap would it help & show platter damage? Was also thinking that with the LED's on the light would shine through the damaged area?

yes, Ive been working on an 8GB drive, that should be easy but is being a PITA. just a PS2251-03-Q. Even standard cut bad bytes, the usual block pair 0x204000 etc, but the assembler is being a pain. repairing ECC and combining taking a long time, and I have had 3 other cases to work on in between. (secretly Im loving it!)

I will try and get it done in next few hours, as soon as the family settle and stop interrupting me, and Ive fed our little 14 day old pup we are bottle feeding... Ah real life, why is it so dang crazy?

25 meters? So basically you have planned to put it under water with its LED on to check whether there's some fish around? :)

Yes that was the plan, at least have a look what was around, like what type of bottom the seabed was etc. I have a submersible spotlight that can add more light if the LED isn't powerful enough

BTW, I don't know where I got 25 metres from, it is actually 10 metres!

Well, not great. I doubt it could be used for any detail. Bear in mind, Mine was a pretty cheap one, as I don't know if taking it into the sea with my rudimentary waterproofing would kill it or not.

One question (I'm on a netbook with a not so good screen atm): the drive you've shot, is there any media damage?

No, the drive was a IDE 40GB. As far as I can remember it was working fine. I took no precautions, and there is dust on there because of it. The reflections from the light play havoc with the focusing, and the length of the camera end means it is hard to manoeuvre it under and between platters.

A more expensive/miniature one may be a lot better, along with better and more careful light source aiming.

I purchased one, it is 5mm in diameter and seems promising.

For reference, Mine is 7.55mm and the length of the non flexible camera housing is 46mm
