Antivirus program like AVG, Kasparesky, Malwarebyte, Webroot etc. consider the necessary programs as virus and sometimes they become very aggrasive and harmful for the files and programs of my computer. If I use these type of Antivirus, my html files are deleted, MS Word could not open and other important programs like Illustrator, Photoshop, Google Chrome also identified as virus in their scan result; so it is difficult to identify the real bad programs from the scan list. I think, only Norton was the good antivirus which prevent only real viruses, not affect on good programs. But my Norton trial period has expired and I could not renew it because I could not connect to norton server.

Can anybody suggest me good antivirus or antimalware like Norton which is 100% safe and will not affect on my good programs?

What about ComboFix? Is it safe? Have anybody use it successfully without any side affect? ComboFix itself warn the users to not use it without expert.

See the test results at av-comparatives (http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php) for an unbiased assessment. (Click on sort by Value rather than Manufacturer to make the decision easier.) Also, look at more than just the most recent results, as they do change over time.

You can't do better than Kaspersky for viruses and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware for other malware. Both are usually required for total coverage, but nothing is 100% effective, so backup regularly.

Just for info:

https://www.virustotal.com/ is good if you want to upload a suspecious file & get it scanned by 50+ AV softwares in one go.

You will be surprised on how some miss things whilst overs pick them up.

I have scan by Malwarebytes, no change. Then have used Kaspersky, but not complete the scan, after 95% scan, computer has shut down. Some improvement may be happen, but my main problem has not solved yet. I still could not directly open PDF, Zip and Media files. Actually I was looking for Anti-Malware and Anti-Virus for my problem described in following post: http://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28968

The fact that Kaspersky doesn't finish scanning is worrisome. I would try scanning using Kaspersky Rescue Disk, to be sure a rootkit isn't sabotaging Kaspersky, although Kaspersky is very good at dealing with rootkits. You can also try it with another rescue disk, like Avira's or BitDefender's. If no malware is found, try Tweaking.com's All-in-One Windows Repair. It does a great job of repairing a multitude of problems. Some program is altering file associations on reboot. If this stared recently, just use System Restore to go back to some date that precedes the problem. As a last resort, backup your data and "repair install" Windows, or do a fresh install and re-install your programs prior to restoring your data.

This whole discussion doesn't belong in HDDGuru, unless you have determined that the hard drive itself is failing. You have tested it (and have user data backups), I hope?

Thanks to LarrySabo. System restore was a very good option to revert any unexpected change to computer. But my system restore is also infected. No restore points are available. In normal condition, Windows XP create automatically restore point. Now no point is automatically created, even if I manually create any point, it would vanished within one or two days.

Did you try my other suggestions? Take it to a computer repair tech. This has nothing to do with data recovery, so far.

IMO,

1) system settings (including disabling unnecessary software/services and group policy);
2) *free* SuRun (as a limited user/UAC);
3) *free* SandBoxIE (as virtual space);
4) *free* Comodo (http://www.matousec.com/projects/proact ... esults.php)

But, as always, it all rather but useless if common sense abused...

The problem is that rootkits and other malware are already running on the drive your trying to disinfect (most are invisible to system) making the job far more difficult. Best method of removal is not to boot using the drive you want to disinfect. Use an external boot disk with updated definitions (Malwarebytes is great for after the fact) or attach drive as n (non booting) external drive to a clean machine with updated antivirus and run Malwarebytes.

MalwareBytes Anti-Malware is not a virus removal/protection program, although it may remove/block some. It complements, rather than replaces, a good anti-virus program. I suspect the OP has resolved his problem by now.
