Just looking to see how well R Studio integrates with DDI. I can see that its the Technician version thats supposed to integrate and be used with it but have noticed that the standard version also offers and option to connect to the imager over the network. It doesn't seem to offer many options though so im guessing the Technician version is what im after, happy to pay for it providing it works well.

Anyone words of wisdom from someone who has this setup would be great.

Thanks

Non-Technician versions can work with DDI in the Demo mode. They can do everything except actual data recovery from DDI and its images.

It is handy to use R-Studio after the clone with DDI and have it cross reference files with the sector map. I would love it better if they were to incorporate all the DRE functionality into it.

So it does. Tried using the clone marked sectors and it started to clone the files but very slowly. Tried changing the passes and ended up with just a fast primary but still was going to take days to clone through that command from r studio. Doing the same thing through DRE was much faster so im not sure whats going on there.

R-studio clones file by file (if I read correctly) while DDI selects all the sectors for all selected files and mirrors them in a single pass. So, a lot less bouncing around for the heads.

Yup, was playing about with it this afternoon after purchasing technician and that is indeed what it does. Fingers crossed they will give you the option in the next release or two. Even taking into consideration its file by file it still seemed to take forever. Itt looked like it was imaging a small number of sectors with first pass then going back over those sectors with the subsequent passes until moving onto the next block rather than the whole file then going back over sectors.

Had a case this afternoon where DRE didnt see partitions at all but R Studio did, really didnt want to image whole drive or even whole partitions but with the speed R Studio was going ive been left with little choice.
