Has anyone experimented with SATA Port Selectors?

I wonder if it would work for connecting one hard drive to two data recovery tools, such as a firmware tool and an imaging tool at the same time. This would minimise the risk due to having to power down a drive and move it between tools; sometimes drives only come ready once.

If you supply power to the drive from your data extraction/imaging tool, but connect the drive's sata cable to the firmware tool, once you fix the firmware issue, switch the drive's sata cable to the imager and proceed with imaging/data extraction.

Or just buy PC-3000 with Data Extractor, and you'll never have to do any cable swapping.
