Software to recover (undelete) a file without extension

March 21st, 2015, 23:23

I have a file without an extension (backup) that I accidentally deleted. After deleting the file I immediately put the drive in read-only mode. Does anyone know any (windows) software that can recover deleted files without an extension? Most software that I found only allows recovery of files with a valid file extension. I do know the exact name/location of the file.

I haven't used it, but maybe something like ntfsundelete in ntfsprogs could do it.

Try R-Studio, if it can find it "deleted" from the file alocation table it will know where the file is even if you deleted it.

WinHex can Help I guess..
do you have similar file on other drive ?
Read its header and the for recovery give same header
for e.g. \x00\xa4\x33\xd9 etc..
