Is R-Studio so bad?

April 23rd, 2015, 15:15

Top ten reviews published their review on data recovery software. (Data Recovery Software Review). To our astonishment, they claim that R-Studio recovers much less files than GetDataBack or Ontrack EasyRecovery. Can your experience prove or disprove that?
They also claim that some programs can recover overwritten files.

Looks like a paid advertisement of Data Rescue to me

This is really interesting to get 50% discount just under the test.

User just need to get the demo version of both then try they will make their own opinion.

If R studio were so bad, i don't think it would be interfaced with DDI, or even used by lot of people here ...

Looks suspiciously similar to this..

A "sponsored" winner!

So, whoever pays the most to the "reviewer" gets the highest "rating"

What a crock of sh1t :-(

Agree with @Doomer and @pcimage

I've tested some of the software mentioned on the site and from all of those R-Studio would be on the top.

GetDataBack is very good as well.

Maybe they are considering the price of the tools as well. R-Studio isn't properly "cheap" ...

There is also Restorer Ultimate (R-Studio Rip-Off) - On older versions of Restorer Pro if you read the manuals of the product you would find mentions to R-Studio functions that they forgot to change to "Restorer" ... lol

At any rate i think that R-Studio might indeed be one of the best software for logic data recovery out there.

Some of the softwares on that site that were ranked above R-Studio are VERY BAD.

And of course it's impossible to recover over-written data ...

So ... Conclusion - Do not take intro consideration the claims on the posted site. It's just advert site for specific software.

Don't take it personal. You software is still the best overall data recovery suite hands down. Anyone who says that other software is better is either being paid to say it, or is just too dumb to know how to use real data recovery software.

If you actually read what they base each rating on it's hilarious.

E.G. - Under "Scanning Features":

Recovery Lab Service Available:
Data Rescue - Yes (not sure how that's a "scanning" feature - LOL)
R-Studio - No

Pause Scan:
Data Rescue - Yes
R-Studio - No (which is sort of a lie, I guess it doesn't technically have a pause button)

Sounds to me that they compared about a 100 things, then just chose to rate based on the ones they feel they excel at. Haha.

I will admit I do use Data Rescue for Mac recoveries sometimes because it seems to understand HFS+ and Time backups better. But, that's about it.

The average person creates 4.93 gigabytes of information a day

... on FaceBook, and would that be GB or GiB?

R-Studio is a complex set of tools. While other software performed better on the side of data recovery in our tests, R-Studio has other useful capabilities, including remote scanning and a disk sanitation feature. However, much of the recovery work appears left for the user to roll up their sleeves and complete the process with the provided hex editor.

I wonder if the results would be significantly different if the test system were able to be recovered remotely by experts from the respective software manufacturers.

What I would like to see in a professional review is how the commercial tools stack up against freeware like TestDisk, PhotoRec, EaseUS. I've been using DMDE, so I would have liked to see how it would perform.

R-Studios is a sophisticated hard drive recovery tool with a steep learning curve.

I think this quote of theirs says it all. They never rounded the learning curve enough to know what they are doing in R-studio. While that might be a valid point to some mom who just lost some kid pictures, those who are actually looking for a powerful tool would probably prefer a review from someone who understands what it can do.

If a tool is marketed at end users, as is Seagate's recovery tool (an OEM version of R-Studio ?), then ISTM that it ideally should not have a learning curve. I mean, a data recovery is not something that an end user would do every day. Perhaps a non-technical reviewer would have been best placed to test these tools, to simulate the approach of an "average person". Just playing the devil's advocate ...

Agree.

Yes, it sure looks like it, but R-Studio still ranks below 6 other tools.

It does not mean that the ranking has any truth behind it, the only goal of that "ranking" was to promote paid ad

I was using your product for some time before (the cracked ver.)
till i found it WORTH really the money i spent on it when i bought it, which is because of 2 reasons:

1- I try the full WORKING demo (sometimes cracked) and see how it goes (bugs...etc.) then i buy it.
2- Working with Daily/Weekly RAID cases most, which is my case here with R-Studio.

I paid for it for few years now, and the thing which I DON`T LIKE really about YOUR COMPANY STAFF not the App. it is the following:

on your Website, if i wanted to RENEW my Lic. its limited only for 2years Max.
and the price of 2years is not that expensive, but my point here which am pointing @ is the following:

I pay here about 60$ of Bank Transfer Fees when i send you the payment, and your 2 Years lic. update is about 40$ (if am not mistaken)
I Sent you many many many times emails about this issue, and told you that AM READY TO PAY FOR 5Y not only 2Y (since your not new on the market)

and for MORE THAN 3 months, NO ONE REPLIED YET....
I even sent you PM through this forum with my old order ID, but NOTHING yet..

so the Question here which am asking you.... How about that???

i don`t think that there are many who might offer you the same, but the Question remains:

Should i go back with the Cracked ver. along with some other Users?? i feel sad really, and still using i think 7.4 or .5 can`t remember.

think about it....

thank you

I think they ranked the paid soft first, then placed the most expensive programs, and moved the really good programs like GetDataBack and R-Studio to the bottom, where the user will not look at them.

For sure not a valid "ranking" money talks here.

I've just went to R-Studio site and guess what ?

This is the payment methods allowed to buy R-Studio :

rstudio.png

If you don't want to pay the $60 USD Bank Transfer Fees instead of using the Wire Transfer why not use PayPal or VISA/MasterCard CC ?

On my PT bank account if i use the Wire Transfer outside Europe i have to pay those fees (more or less the $60 USD) but buying with Credit Card is isent of fees and paypal have lower fees as well (supported by the seller)....

So ....

Think about it ?

It's not even a review. More like an infomercial on late nite TV. Advertisement made to look like a review.

Re: Is R-Studio so bad?

@ Spildit

the last time i used a CC was 10y back maybe, when someone took more than 20k $$
and from that day no more CC.

All the people i know on this forum, the people i Do Biz. with them they know me, Only Wire-Transfer

and even when i bought the R-Studio, was Wire-Transfer

when someone takes 20k is not the same as 20$ my dear
hope this answers ur Q. and they did not reply yet about my post.
