For what drive ?

Tools like HRT, MRTLab Tool, PC-3000, will do that for you for several drives ...

Things like WDR will do that for Western Digital ...

Depending of the drive you might need different tools

any pure software tools which can do this task. i am asking this just for info not any particular drive.

WDR can do that for some western digital drives (WDR is "cracked" "ripped off" copy of HRT 5.0 UDMA WD-Marvell tool that works without hardware).

Tools like SeDiv are pure software (no hardware card) and will do the same (i think) but you have to pay $$$$ .

I don't know of any free tools to do what you ask except maybe some old vendor tools like VTools / hacked HUTIL for samsung, but will only work on old drives - IDE 80 GB and less ...
