Need help using the Batch-Function in MHDD

Hello there...

I have a HDD which can't be accessed in Windows. I attempted to image the disc with ddrescue under Linux, but this fails too.
Then I taked a look at MHDD and found that I get partially access to the disc.

I imaged the MBR and the VBR from the NTFS-partition with the TOF-function. I located the MFT and imaged it too. In the MFT I searched for the file that I need and found the FILE-Record.

Now I have the runlist from my needed file and want to image the several parts with TOF to merge them later back to one file.

The runlist contains 127 fragments. This would be many work, if I do it manually.

Now my question:

Can I use the batch function to automate the imaging of the single fragments like

TOF sector1000 to sector 2000
TOF sector5000 to sector 6000
...

????

Sorry for my poor english, I hope someone understands, what I mean !?

I think idealy you would use something like a DDI4, PC-3000 DE, MRT DE or HRT-DRE to clone the drive by hardware and get the files that you really need.

Playimg with MHDD and/or software only alternatives might be wasting the very last chance that you still have to get your files without swapping parts (head stack) inside a hepa 100 clean room (expensive).

If you really need the data i would contact a data recovery firm or someone with tools to get your files in a proper way instead of attempting to use software only sollutions and kill the heads trying.

If ddrescue fails byt mhdd can still access the drive then there is a good chance that the drive can still be cloned with proper pro (expensive) tools.

What is the drive model and capacity ?

You say MHDD has partial access??? meaning the sector size is reduced from what it should be?

If that's the case, l'd guess it's a translator issue. Though I have to agree with Spildit, if the data is important it's time to go to a professional. Perhaps these guys: http://www.030-datenrettung.de/

At first: You're right, the best way is the way to the pro's.

Because of this, I contacted the guys of data-medics recommendation and today I sent the drive to them.

@data-medics Did you know anything about these guys before ?

@Spildit It is a Seagate ST3160813AS.

But....

I'm very interested in these batch-feature of mhdd...and I think you could light up the dark
Would the idea of my first post be possible ???

@Spildit I searched through the forum, because of your recommendated tools. Did You know about the main-differences of these ?

I know something about the logical recovery from files, but now my interest comes to solve the hardware-problems.
Maybe You can (for sure) an want (???) help me !?

Just to let you know: Drive had some serious media damage at the first 10% of the drive. We managed to image the drive with only about 1k left sectors. So data was recovered at nearly 100% and client was given a nice discount for beeing referred to us by hddguru forum.
