DeepSpar just released a new product called RapidSpar. What do you think?

Product is cool and useful to help with portability.

Applying a solution to firmware and physical related issues based on an algorithm that is optimized for the respective issues don't quite allow to see how it could happen in reality. The ratio of vast amount of problems to proper solutions is way too complex to be solved by some algorithm. Perhaps, it may have success for very trivial issues IF the drive is still in fairly good condition, but how often does that happen? Not that often.

I anticipate it being slow to resolve problems as it will involve saving the firmware, then algorithm has to "think and execute the solution produced by the algorithm" and then check results, and so on. I wonder if the fix is wrongfully applied and/or results are not as expected due to drive condition, will "the algorithm" know what to do next?!?

What about the cloud and security? What data will go to the cloud? Will the customers have a problem with that? Should they be informed?

And price? Yeah, still a barrier. I could see it a success more in the forensic market for people who do forensics and are still inexperienced with the inner workings of drive stabilization procedures.

Overall, while it is nice and convenient (and of course a great product for those who have deep understanding of what it does and how it does it), to me it is another dangerous push toward people simply relegating to simple solutions that turn catastrophic.

Nevertheless, I applaud the engineering behind it.

It does look like an interesting new product.

I would expect the RapidNebula function is only likely to cope with the routine every day firmware problems. Depending on the user level if manual intervention of some kind were required there might be problems.

I love the bit in the video 'The user does not have to think, does not have to know, just has to press a button.'

On price I would say it is very affordable at $1995 or is that only an introductory price?

What I would like to know is how the major functions compare with the bigger brother DDI 4? Cloning and file extraction speed etc.

This tool is directed to IT repair (shops) passing on their DR cases to a DR partner company.
So - its a competition for the "easy" solvable cases for the DR companies.

How much is a usual (small/smaller) IT company willing to pay for tools ?
How big is the percentage of those cases with fw issues compared to the
percentage of cases where just a cloning of drives (if accessible) would
help ? 5:95 - 10:/90 - 20/80 ?

Infact most cases (even for this tool) will be cloning... will small(er) IT-
companies spend $ 2K for a cloner if they think they can go on with free
or low cost software solutions - and then infact spend the money for just
the few other cases (fw issues), where its again unclear whether its really
only a fw issue (software related) and not any type of issue as a result of
media and/or hardware issue ?

Another point is, that another group of DR novice with think they will
receive a one button solution (like a dish washer - put defect drive in on
one side - receive it cleaned (sorry: repaired) a few minutes later on the
other side).

I have no doubt that the collegues of Deepspar have put in all their huge
knowledge and a lot of hartblood into this product, but I dont see the big(er)
market for it. Never the less I would like to see that I am wrong for the
benefit of the customers....

@Amabir, DDI4 is a very very good imager, but it has a learning curve and each drive has special needs. I have no Atola and cant compare it.
After 3 month i was ready to sell ny DDI4, now it runs 24/7.

Where was this "internet reading" done, on Atola's website? I've yet to hear much good stuff about Atola tools from anyone who's used them. They sell a tool that costs as much as PC-3000 and can't handle half of the cases that PC-3000 can. The only area where Atola might "win" is ease of use, but I'll take raw power and features over ease any day. DDI 4 can handle USB native drives without needing to replace with a SATA board, can Atola do that?

Some Of My Observations Were Based On Latest Video By Scott Moulton .Jared If The Cost Of Atola Is Near Cost of PC3000 Then Its a Useless Product As Far As Pricing Goes .Then For My 2 Imagers DDI4 Would Be a Better Choice .I Still Stand That Atola Will Blow Away DDI4 In Imaging Job Also [ Atleast For SATA HDDS ].All Those Fancy Stunts You Try On DDI4 Can Be Tried On Atola Also .But i Would not Like To Buy USB Addon For DDI4 As Its Same As DFL URE ? . What a Bloody Confusion I Have In My Head .
