Hello! 1. If I use the HDD Low Lever Format Tool - http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low ... rmat-Tool/ - to format a Hard Disk Drive, will I then be able to recover any data at all off it? 2. If not, what's the purpose of tools like DBAN? 3. If yes, would I need a really hi-tech software to recover data off a low level formatted drive? Consumer tools (like GetDataBack, R-Studio, Recuva etc.) won't work? Thank you! |

No you won't be able to recover data after a LLF. But maybe first you need to read up on what LLF is, what it means with modern drives and then you can answer these questions yourself. Also, there is no harm in getting a drive, filling with data, LLF, then going through a recovery process to see first hand. |

Hello , Low Level Format Overwrites Each Sector With a Pattern of DATA [ Typically ZERO ] ,Hence DATA Recovery After this is Impossible .In SSD And Other Flash Drives There is a Very Very Small Possibility not in HDD's .I hope this puts your question to rest |

Even if HD is quick-formatted, data recovery becomes more and more dicey as time passes. I'm experimenting with a few DR programs [just with deleted folders, deleted files], and I'm finding out that I am NO CSI tech!  Actual usable recovered files are not quite the same number of files in the "found/allegedly-recovered" list.
