Please suggest some new Data restoration utilities

March 14th, 2016, 5:43

Please help to refresh my memory - which are best free and reliable Windows safe deleted file restoration utility running under Windows?

Some years ago I used successfully raw data restoration software, which was free and run under Windows. Can't recall name.
In meantime I have occasionally tested many data restoration software but most have been very primitive and not capable even to restore files deleted specially for test purpose.
Now a I'm not sure what was usable and what was just an hoax.
Please help with some keyword, where to look and what ignore.

I have here a HDD with crypto virus locky and would like to try restoring files deleted bypassing recycle bin.
As there is info that files are first deleted and after that copy is encrypted.
Infected HDD with files encrypted is now connected via USB to other Windows PC.

Thanks.

Recuva is free. https://www.piriform.com/recuva

use R-Studio for that. If you really care, don't be so hung up on free stuff. Is your time worth anything? Because this is where you "pay" for going through many crappy free apps. Otherwise, look at "recuva" "dmde"

the many free apps usually can recover freshly deleted pics and somewhat random success on other problems and filetypes, but you can really waste many hours trying to wade through their limited usefulness. IMHO

Hello

I have checked DMDE and Recuva for this recovery task.
There is found a lot of file for recovery but results still are somehow insufficient.
DMDE "recovers" 600 files of which perhaps only 20 contain MS Word data and not any more important files.
Recuva reports almost all file names but states as not recoverable.

Somehow it feels the problem is SSD writing system, which both softwares are not capable to track.
SKHynix HFS128G3AMNM

But case is not up to the price of buying any software, as in fact results may be the same.
