Hi, all! When I check 3TB HDD Seagate over IDE-SATA controller STI-2 (Agestar), my HDD disconnected. When the HDD about 80GB -- check all right. Why? May be need any DOS-driver? On another PC (with SATA) MHDD check pass normally. |

If you are connecting a SATA drive to an IDE port via a SATA-IDE bridge, then you shouldn't need a driver. The SATA HDD should just appear as a PATA drive to BIOS and OS. Could it be that your bridge PCB cannot handle 6Gbps link speeds? Can you identify the bridge IC? Perhaps its datasheet will provide a clue. Is this your device? http://www.agestar.com/en/Products/conv ... board.html Quote: Product Specification Material wood <---- maybe this is the problem Date transfer rate 66/100/133MB/s Output interface 40 pin IDE Suitability 3.5in SATA HDD Operation system Windows 98se/Me/2000/XP/Vista http://www.agestar.com/components/com_v ... 778db5.jpg http://www.agestar.com/components/com_v ... ee2625.jpg http://www.agestar.com/components/com_v ... ce4962.jpg |

I notice that the PCB can be jumpered for either Device 0 or Device 1. I presume this corresponds to IDE Master and Slave, respectively. The default jumper position selects Device 1. Wouldn't it be advisable to select Device 0 (Master)? |

Yes, it's the same device. But as I tested it, it stopped working altogether. Total 4-5 times included. |

It may be that the device is broken? |

I would test the adapter with a 1.5Gbps HDD, if possible. Is the bridge IC a JM20330? http://beyondwind.duckdns.org/wp-upload ... v.-2.3.pdf |

Convert card full name: STI-2 (AS-IS-20330) http://www.agestar.com/en/Products/Conv ... board.html If card is broken it possible to remount it? Today I attempt switch her in another PC. |

I see that people have a lot of problems with IDE-SATA adapters in the user forums. They seem to be a hit-and-miss affair. The "20330" in the name would suggest that the bridge is indeed a JMicron JM20330. It's datasheet says it is a 1.5Gbps device. Perhaps it is unable to negotiate a SATA link with current 6Gbps HDDs? Otherwise I have no idea what could be wrong. Sorry. |

"It's datasheet says it is a 1.5Gbps device" Thank you. I understood. I thought, can reduce Gbps HDD by jumpers. |
