The STRANGE problem of my hdd! Only 40 GB work instead of931

Hello guys.
I have an external hdd WD my passport, 1 terabyte and usb 3.0 (but now I use it in sata mode)

SO this is the story:

1)This Hdd once had a lot of problem but wit a lot of different tools and zeroing it from Windows I successfully fixed it.

2)I formatted it in exFat, everithing is ok and I can perfectly use it BUT after i wrote 40 gb it starts to show some messages in Windows. For how much I understood after the 40th GB it is locked in "read-only" mode and I can't write data anymore

3)I tryed to zerofill the Hard Drive with "dev zero" on Linux (I used the verbose parametre with bs=8 mega and also 512 kb).
The process works from 0 to 40 gb, but after that the speed became 1 gb/sec... I am sure that also DD skips these sectors because they are locked in "read-only" mode.
It says "error writing on dev/sda : no space left on device"


HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM TO FULLY USE/FORMAT THE DRIVE?

Should I use the 100% recover function of "Hdd regenerator" ?

Do your disk tools report the full 1TB capacity for the drive?

Yes the size is correctly recognized in each different program.
I know that there are a lot of bad sectors from 40th Gb to the last one and smart reports warning values on attribute 5, 197 e 198 (it's exadecimal...)
But the damage SURELY is not physic so I think that it will be a way to fix it... (hdd regenerator, mhdd...)

Sure ! Just buy a new drive !!! Problem solved.

Why do you say that the problem is not physical ? What do you mean by that ?

Why do you think that hdd(de)generator can fix your drive ?
