My Disk needs "Cyclic Redundancy Error" treatment. Anybody?

I own a Seagate BUP Slim 2TB External Portable Drive (STDR2000302) and it is showing me Cyclic Redundancy error everytime I resume the download (which is set to directly dwnld into the drive). Moreover, I am unable to access my drive as 8/10 attempts fail. If, by chance the drive is accessible even then I m not able to copy, move or delete the content from/to the drive. This is happening since a week and before that it was running like hell as it should. 3-4 AAA+ Games (2016/17) sizing to about 30GB average are installed directly onto the drive as I fall short of my Kingston 128 gig ssd ! Could that be a reason for failure?
Sometimes the drive runs just fine but for a few mins only. This whole problem coincides the similar issue with my old Seagate 250 gig Internal one! :( :roll:
There isn't any USB conn. issue as I have tried all the ports (from USB2 to special USB3.1 (which is privileged by my Asus A88XM-A/USB 3.1 ver) .
So what should be the probable causes of failure ?
The best suggestions to treat this problem will be whole-heartedly appreciated! :) :)

Do you need the data on the drive ?

General rule - don't use USB external drives. USB doesn't handle errors as well as SATA/IDE.

If you need the data out of the drive you first need to figure out if the problem is with the drive or with the USB bridge.

Open the enclosure (DO NOT OPEN THE DRIVE) and check if the drive itself. Can you plug it directly to a SATA port on your machine ? If so try that first.

Also post the full model of the DRIVE ITSELF.

If you still have errors then the drive needs to be replaced. If you need to recover the data out of it there are still some "tricks" that you can try even if you have problems with the drive conected directly by SATA ...

If you don't need the data, replace the drive.

Most likely the drive has developed bad sectors. If you don't need data off of it, just junk it. If you do, then I'd recommend attempting to ddrescue it to another drive. Unless the data is too important to risk losing, in which case you should consider professional service.
