In the Acer Bios here is the Boot Order I can set.

USB HDD
USB CDROM
IDE0
IDE1
USB FDD
Network Boot

This might help.

You would use USB FDD or USB HDD, depending on what works.

The question is if the bios will remap the usb drive to the A: and allow access to it transparently to applications. Lets see if I can find one and try some tests first.

I haven't had no luck on a USB Floppy drive to use yet. I have tap out everyone I know.

I´m still searching also. Also, keep looking at ebay os craigslist, maybe you can find some selling one or an old computer for a suitable price.
