Using HDDScan 4.1 SMART Test Disabled On HGST Drive?

Using HDDScan 4.1 SMART Test Disabled On HGST Drive? I think the SATA to USB 3 adapter is the issue, since I know the HGST drive supports SMART. Can someone recommend a SATA to USB 3 adapter that is know to work well with HDDScan? Thanks.
