WDMarvel v4.30 - v4.21 - License deactivated - Server error

I want to advice that WDMarvel (which is an ukraine sw) has some issue with servers.
If you have activated a lifetime license, you will be unable to use it because the tool wants to connected theyr server with your PC.
If servers are offline or damaged (maybe due to the war), you will see reported server error and the tool goes in DEMO mode.
Other user are reporting same issue on Marvel forum:

The strange thing is that older version as 4.02 and 4.03 are working fine because PC can connect to Marvel server... probably this versions run on different server from recent versions?

Always getting this err from the release date of versions above 4.0.3
They said to update SSL certificate.

They have updated certificate files.

it has new certificates inside, now it will work fine after registering it with your serial number.

It's working for me after updating to version 4.31.
Try to extract again new version from rar archive and register again with your serial number.

Be carefull, don't use russian VPN because your serial number would be blacklisted... this is ukrainian tool!

I would suggest to use Wireshark to analyze the network traffic to see which servers it tries to connect to and how they behave. If you need help with this, let me know.

I do not like this attitude at all ,Reason assume i am in russia and this is what i have purchased for my day to day work ,The countries military is fighting not the people .if this is the case then Sysdev Lab should also ban all russian licenses ,Love for once country is fine ,penalties can be imposed like

1 : Will not sell to russian clients

But what this guy is doing is not correct .

Their login servers https://hdd-master.web2ua.com/ (located in the Netherlands) and https://hdd-master2.web2ua.com/ (located in Germany) are online.

When I visited https://hdd-master2.web2ua.com/ with a browser last week, it said database error. Now the error is gone, but still no connection with WDMarvel possible.

Yeah, server based tools aren't very reliable.

Ok, where can I find the new SSL certificate?
The certificate from the latest version (Demo) from their homepage is still the old one from 2017.

Do I have to buy a new license, because lifetime licenses only have 1 year of updates?

Normally, when they sell a lifetime license, they should make sure that their customers can use the program without time restrictions and don't have to buy it again.


Well, Sediv is no better. Just because my WLAN dongle died, the program is in demo mode. I have 2 activations left, but they told me they 'lost' their activation tool for the old version and I have to buy the new version. So I am done with Sediv.

I am using Windows 7 x86 and always used WDMarvel 3.3.1

So .... Let's see .... What DID really happen is that some Russian guys did manage to capture the traffic from WDMarvel to and from server and did create an openserver version that one can run on the localhost to "emulate" the WDMarvel server. WDMarvel will then connect to it instead of the on-line server and will work as full version. Maye the Russian guys were simpply pissed off because they got their licenses deactivated ? At any rate it doesn't matter. WDMarvel author did decide to move to SSL so that the connections can't be sniffed (yeahhh right .... as it would solve anything) and decided to deactivate versions that don'rt use SSL....
So the guys who have the "pirated" server that already got all that they needed from the server will have WDMarvel for free and the ones like me that were using older versions can't use those versions anymore...

Not to mention that what they are trying to do is impossible ... It's like protecting DVDs ... Because the "player" needs to have the key to read the disk the key can be extracted ...

Just because WDMarvel is using encryption the keys have to be on the software and the software needs to know how to decrypt and on worst case one can allways sniff the SATA/IDE interface .... so pirates will still have their way and legal users will be stuck with either upgrading or moving to pirated version (that should be considererd fair use anyway since I did already paid for lifetime if i can't use the real lifetime and i use soething else instead .... you get the picture).... Not clever, not nice ... in particular because :

1) My main machine for data recovery is using XP with other tools that have locked license to it like SeDiv and

2) I don't want to disable Windows security to install *dlls from the WDMarvel team to "patch" AES on windows (with chances of killing other licenses) and I did like the fact that 3.x would load very fast unlike 4.x that verify a lot more stuff for copy protection .... I wasn't even using 4.x with the PRO/PLUS version that I did had and kept the 3.x one as was way more fast to load and open/close if needed, etc ...

So yes, I'm pissed and if they can do this they can as well tomorrow decide that someone cracked the newer version so they have to issue a new one that only runs on win 11 and kill all the others .... or they can decide that they don't like me for what i post and kill my license (that i did pay) ...

I did support Ukrain from day one (on regards to the war) but this doesn't feel right .... many Russians most likely are againt the war as well and by now have their licenses de-activated ... but i can still understand to some extent that they have done that .... buy disable licenses of people that doesn't have anything to do with that (I'm in Portugal-Europe) just because someone already cloned the WDMarvel server .... Ok ... they already have the server working and a pirated tool ... so the sollution is disable the license of those who paid for what ? To force them to move to pirated version ?

I tried to contact them but no answer. Time to find new tools but can we find?

Website al the moment is offline, i don't know for how much time.
I didn't try if the software works because i've it on another pc, tomorrow i will try.
Unfortunately i am not very confident, if the servers are offline this tool will not work.
