Hello. I've a TOSHIBA 1.5TB 2.5 inch SATA hard drive which the APM head parking happening so frequently, causing C1 value increase dramatically in few hours
After widely research from Google. The only method to disable it is using HDAT2 tool.
However, I'm having the problem DCO FROZEN.

the following guide Q2 has been read.
https://www.hdat2.com/hdat2_faq.html

However, i don't understand the option d that

"Boot from HDAT2 boot medium"
If I'm using RUFUS free DOS to include the HDAT2. The step is just boot to dos and then unplug for 30 seconds, plug it back for another 30 seconds. Then, we can input HDAT2 to access to DCO? Or just input HDAT2 and then unplug and plug it back?

For the option c, I unplug the data cable, boot into dos, Hdat2 and plug in data cable. After several refresh for detecting device, disk cable be found by this hot plug method. Is there any wrong for my sequence?

Sorry to ask this question here since there is no official forum for HDAT2

i also want to know whether it is possible to disable APM permanently for modern ULTRASTAR helium drive. Thanks

I've successfully disable the DCO.

BOOT into HDAT2, unplug power cable and plug it back after 30 seconds. Be careful don't shake your hard drive!
DCO can be modified and removed the security function and reboot again to check that the security function is definitely removed.

However, the APM still... Still stay on the middle and cannot be disabled permanently. Hell. ..

DCO modification failed forever from now.

To conclude, the parameter for APM of Toshiba HDD cannot be modified.

Don't buy it unless Toshiba announce a tool to disable the idle timer!
