Post subject:  HDD Raw copy fails

Hey,

I have a Raw drive which I was able to create an imgc file through HDD Raw Copy.
It is 500GB.

I am attempting to use HDD Raw copy to retrieve the data to a 750GB hard drive but receive the following:

18/12/2022 14:19:15 Locking device...
18/12/2022 14:19:15 Copying...
18/12/2022 14:19:15 Write Error occurred at offset 0 (5)
18/12/2022 14:19:15 Cannot write to target, aborting...
18/12/2022 14:19:15 Average speed:
18/12/2022 14:19:15 Operation terminated at offset 0 LBA 0

I have tried low level format and the 750GB hard drive appears to be working fine.

Help appreciated.
Thank you

If you insist on doing it from Windows try DMDE (https://youtu.be/32GJr39O744), better idea is to use HDDSuperClone.

Are you trying to restore a compressed drive image to another HDD in its original uncompressed format?

Correct, it's a raw drive but i can still see all the files, just can't copy them - so trying to restore the image on another drive

Okay .. And why not opt for recovering data from image file?

I've tried both. I can get pictures/videos no problem. My issue is an itunes backup. I tried EaseUs Data Recovery Wizard directly on the raw drive which saves the backup files but the backup has become corrupt.
Is there any tool that could read the image file and maybe have more success

If you can see files and cannot copy them, the drive most likely has bad (unreadable) sectors. A data recovery pro would be your best option, but I am guessing as its only iTunes you are not too concerned if you get it or not?

If the data is not that important you will need to make an image using HDDSuperclone as has been recomended to you. This MAY be able to recover those bad sectors.

It would appear that the target is either faulty, or was not successfully locked by the HDD Raw Copy tool.

I would use DMDE to invalidate the target's partition table (MBR On/Off) so that the OS cannot mount it, or use Disk Management to delete the partitions.

Unfortunately, itunes backup is the most important thing I want to get from the drive.
I've made an image using HDD raw copy tool.

Any recommendations on an image extractor that would be good?
Much appreciated!

Solved it.
As its a mac drive, I downloaded MacDrive 10 and ran the repair tool. Fixed and readable in less than 3 minutes!
