Both are really good software, I feel R-Studio crash more often but is still really good. In the end get both you will need it.

At the onset let me confess I am absolutely not expert or guru , as often I myself have raised silly spoon feeding type questions. But thanks to you I have learned and solved may cases successfully.
I just want to participate in this discussion and express my thoughts regarding these 2 as well as other softwares --
R-studio has evolved a lot - technician edition has many features now. Its cost effective
UFS explorer is targeted I think towards complex file systems or severe damaged cases or encrypted (bitlocker & other) cases. Its priced to high and only those having big business can afford it.
Once r-studio adds Bitlocker decryption feature , it will be also a able competitor
In case of logical recovery most of the softwares have almost same results . Crucial core technical requirement is in fragmented or raw recovery. R-studio has very good carving capability. I have not checked UFS as I dont have license.
My view on other softwares --

1) Runtime getdataback has gone in degraded state instead of upgrdation .V 4.33 was far more powerful than filmy new version.
2) Ontrack ( owners of vogon international UK and another data recovery company from europe which has revolutionlized data recovery , I dont remeber its name) has failed to update there software portfolio. One Indian company is selling ontrack easy recovery these days.
Where all proprieoty software ( I am secretly fascinated for the same) technoligy of ontrack has gone I am wondering.
3) Media tools professional was dos based tool which was excllent in those old days .Now unfortunately it is not having support of newer file systems.

In conclusion I think its carving capabilities & how it handles fragmented files is very much important as all softwares perform almost equally in simple cases.
I want to know pc3K's raw recovery capabilities when it comes to raw signature based recovery.

Remember to be careful and try to avoid software written by russians. Even if these russians left russia. I think everyone has heard more than once about how russians like to add backdoors to software and how they leak FSB data.

The last time I looked, Ontrack was rebadging Stellar. I wouldn't bother with this product.

UFS Explorer Professional License - $629.95 USD

- R-Studio tech license works for Windows, Linux and Mac OS versions, where a separate UFS license is needed for each OS environment
- UFS support & update renewal is from time of renewal while R-Studio is from time of expirey
- R-Studio tech comes with DeepSpar USB stabilizer tech hardware

There are lots of other back and forths between the two programs. Personally, I can't see how a professional lab could function without having access to both, even if they prefer one over the other.

I am confused why a tech giant like ontrack is using relatively cheap indian product ? what happened to all there original softwares resources ?

All Ontrack file recovery software has always been something not made by Ontrack, they always relied on 3rd parties. You could argue Tiramisu was 'true' Ontrack software for which they owned the source code as they bought the company that made the software. Last couple of years it's a rebranded version of Stellar. I was even able to use it using a Stellar key (offered to me by Stellar). It's basically nothing else than cheap exploitation of the Ontrack brand.

Back in the old DOS days (early 1990s), Ontrack produced Disk Manager which was a Disk Drive Overlay that circumvented BIOS HDD capacity limits. This was long before they made their name in data recovery.

Yes Diskmanager was very popular and useful.

Years ago, my father was talking to an Ontrack sales rep about the software that they sold and the sales rep said that it was what they used in their own lab. However, when he pushed to talk to a technician, their response was that there was no way that they'd use that junk. Rather, it was just a way to get their foot into the door when a customer was unable to recover the data, they'd end up sending it into them to do the job.

I am also reluctant to use Reclaime because it needs nearly online connection. But.. Iurii could you please paste a solution in order to be able to MITM the connection or even to analyse the memory myself.
