Re: software test badblock hdd

If these tests I carried out are sufficient, I'm satisfied, but I don't have the knowledge to determine whether it was efficient or not.

If Victoria's finished quick scan has 0 errors, what is the probability in % of the full scan also having no errors?

HaQue wrote:yes, do 2 full scans. If these are OK, then put drives inside a safe with 2m thick concrete walls. Build a new computer using all certified, guaranteed hardware that will not fail. Call the power company and get a dedicated, filtered, power supply that has multiple fail-safes built in. Clear your Neighborhood of people so there is no chance of anyone interrupting the data transfer. Stop all Wi-Fi, cellphone data in the area to make sure there is no interference. make sure there are no magnets in the immediate area, 1KM to be safe. Remove ALL CATS from the surrounding area - Cats are very bad for computers, laptops especially. make sure there are no glasses of wine close. These are also a natural enemy of computers.

Once you are certain the data transfer will work, test 3 times by cloning your data then restoring it. do a binary file comparison to make sure data is the same.

If this is ok, throw away your whole system and build an identical one - you can't trust it now you have used it 3 times.

backup your data, encase in concrete and bury in your backyard. Make a sign 'NO HARD DISKS BURIED HERE' to trick any criminals digging it up and stealing your drives.

follow these simple steps and you can be slightly ahead of if you just use your perfectly fine drives.

It would be ironic if for some reason your PC crashed and you lost all your data, after spending 2 years drilling down every little possible 'what-if' and never actually just did the backup.

Oh crap!! ahhahahahha

Why did the graph line stop between 357G 429G but the HDD is 1TB? Was the scan complete at 1TB without errors?

SMART may be good as long there is no issues with the HDD but it can't be trusted if the HDD has bad blocks or head issues.

Seems to me the drive was refurbished and so any of that SMART data is useless.

Using a single test, is it possible to really find out if the HDD is fake (case + microSD, USB FlashDrive or SSD) Smart fake firmware fake or original and if it contains badblocks, bad sectors?

but without modifying, corrupting or deleting any of my files inside that drive? my HDD contains 300GB

If I were to write a bot to annoy a HDD forum, I have plenty of training data

crystal disk info shows the hdd serial number if I contact WD and they confirmed that the serial is legitimate is it a good sign that the hdd is original 1TB?

Re: software test badblock hdd

being legit is only part of the equation. The equation is σ (n) ≤ Hn +ln (Hn)eHn. Once you solve, you know for certain your HDD is fine.
