We have been developing an app to catalogue all the donor hard drives that you have in your company. The app takes an image of the label and the number on the PCB and then creates a record in a personal database that is searchable, so if you are looking for that WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 With a serial number of WMATR and dcm with HTJ, then you search WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 WMATR HTJ in the app and it will show you exaxctly where it is.
You can download the app at
https://drivefinda.com/drivefinda-app-c ... rd-drives/
And feel free to post feedback as we are trying to improve it each day.
We also have over 4500 donor hard drives from all over the world, so you can also check there.

I don't understand why you chose a phone specific application. Assuming that your potential clients are split 50:50 between IOS and Android, you have immediately cut out half of them. Instead, most users would have PC3K or MRT, both of which require Windows, so writing a tool for a Windows desktop would seem to be the most logical approach.

The app is mostly to add/scan drives to the database, which works almost perfectly and reduces the time needed to add drives.
For searching, managing all is on the website.

Further OSs will follow.
Android was the first one developed, as I have an android and wanted something to catalogue my own hard drives.
As it scans the labels and then extracts the vital information from it, I did not see the use cases of a windows app, unless you have a top down camera.
Happy to be corrected though. How would you use it for windows (except for the catalogue search)?
Also, when you have an account, you can search the catalogue through your browser.

Thanks a lot for all your efforts and time.
I have a request to make a windows offline version so that a database can be created locally irrespective of internet.
I want to use same database application to include inventory cum disk inward tool (portable version)I am ready to pay some small fee for the same.
Many smaller indivisual persons might also purchase so depending upon development cost and potencial sales returns you can decide.
While many online applications for disk inward management are available they are costly (subscription based)
Thank you

Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into this.
At the moment it is free (to be subsidised with drive sales.)
but your idea is worth thinking about.
