I am trying to recover a few hundred MPEGS from a 500Gb Western Digital HDD (SATA) with (apparently unmapped) bad sectors. I have tried 'Data Doctor FAT + NTFS' but it lingers over bad sectors too long - and I don't seem to be able to get it to accept the failure very quickly. I dont think it matters to skip a few bad sectors in an MPEG, and would rather find recovery software that will skip over bad sectors (make the decision to skip) faster. Thoughts? |

You need to image the drive first, with some non-windows based s/w. e.g. CopyR, Media Tools Pro. Then work from the image. Hope this helps? |

OK - willdo. After that, I simply reapply Data Doctor to the new image? Any thoughts about how to repair the MPEGs (get them to work again)? |
