This banana solution is awesome. I think it will work also with scratched platters !

Seems like we going to be out of business soon, with all "natural" techniques coming out.

btw you can use an old hdd to make a decent CD/DVD polishing tool, just put the polishing pad and fix it on the platter ( you will have to cut a bit of the hdd case ) and voila, some polishing compound and your done and added bonus - you can't press the cd/dvd too hard the hdd motor is not so strong.. So you'll have a home made polishing machine
