Good morning and may I say nice forum. should have come here a long time ago, anyway make a long story short I’m looking to replace a PCB board the below spec HDD, this has pictures of a passes away family member and is the only pictures my bro in law has, I have checked High and Low for this and have been unsuccessful in doing so, I know it’s possible to find it I just seem to be having the trouble doing so, I have attached a picture of the drive below with the chip highlighted that I feel is the bad one, I know its not the TVS chip I don’t think anyway or I could try remove it and run it without the TVS, any help would be appreciated more than you know. The drive has no power at all which Im happy about id rather that then hear grinding or clicking

That is NOT a chip it is an inductor, and its 'bulge' may be perfectly normal for that part.
Repair of high technology is not something Psychics should be involved in.
I also often feel people are watching and following me , but I do not use it as a basis for repairing a disk drive.

Watch your caps, and your reply was helpful to me how?, Nice face you put on this forum. the bulge is not normal considering it has scorch marks around the rims, I know what a hard PCB board "SHOULD" look like and what bulging caps look like, what I see is not normal, if you cant reply to a post with something helpful don’t post at all.

The inductor consists of a wire wound over a ferrite core. Ferrite doesn't bulge or leak.

FWIW, the 5V and 12V TVS diodes are in the top RH corner, near the SATA power connector.

You say that the drive doesn't spin. I'm assuming this means that you PC's PSU doesn't shut down when you connect the drive. If so, then this would confirm that the diodes are OK.

Thanks allot for the info mate at least someone was able to post something useful unlike the other joker that kind of play makes this forum look like waste of time to users especially when you have a new member me. By the way I got a replacement PCB board installed it I was able to get the data I needed. thanks for the info fzabkar.
