I need help with diagnostics and repair. Advanced System Care's Disk Doctor reports a bad indexing on my hard disk but fails to repair it as the problem remains after repair by chkdsk, boot time is extremely slow. I am running a Compaq Presario F761 US NoteBook PC.

Plug it in as an external or slave, and use recovery software on it, such as Get Data Back NTFS or R-Studio. There is plenty of free software out there as well.
