Hi

First of all, sorry I'm french so my english is not very good...

I have just bought a Seagate Barracuda 2 TB XT, and my Bios recognize it as ST_M13FQBL with 0Mb.
I tryed to change cable, put it on SATA III, SATA II... but nothing.

And when I switch on the comp, the drive spin up...

A little of help would be grateful !
Thanks!

And then what?

Normal calibration sounds, or some ticking with spin down?

You should check the log (terminal) report of that one to understand better what's wrong.
Or else, take it to a pro who can help to understand what's the problem.

If you don't need the data on it, just deliver it for warranty.

Root cause for that behaviour is most probably a misplaced pionter, which points to sector 0 (firmware area) instead of sector xx, which is the beginning of user area. I saw that several times at Seagate drives, also newer WDs had these effect.

Regenerate translator - voilá! This is nothing for normal computer users, but every pro is (should be) able to solve that problem quick.
