Hi all,

Unfortunately, my WD doesn't work anymore: 3 clicks at power on and then spin off.
Thanks to this forum I saw it may be a PCB problem and I found a matching one (2060-701335-003 REV B from a WD2000JS-00MHB0 DSBACTJCA).

As seen here, I swapped the U12 chip and no chance:
My drive with other U12 and other PCB: drive spins normally but is not recognised by BIOS
My drive with my U12 and other PCB: 3 clicks and spins off...
Other drive with other U12 and my PCB: works perfectly.

Conclusion is that my U12 is dead :(
Is there any way to recover my WD by finding a matching U12 ? Or to get one programmed for my drive ?
If yes, which of following information should match exactly ? (seems that it's DCM but not sure)

model information:
S/N: WMANK1299207
LBA: 488397168
MDL: WD2500JS-00MHB0
Date: 30 AUG 2005
DCM: DSBHCTJCA
Malaysia

PCB : 2060-701335-003 REV B
White sticker : 2061-701335-800 AG XW 2T19 5B3L 1 0007100 6107

Any help is welcome :)
Thanks,
Christophe

Wrong, conclusion is that there is nothing wrong with your PCB

griffe27:

Your drive have one (or more) dead head.
You need professional help, if you need your data back.

Thanks for your quick answers!
With other PCB and other U12, the drive spins normally (no click and no spin off), could it however be an hardware problem?
Is there a way to "check" my U12? (I prefer to be sure it's a head problem before spending a lot of money, between 400$ and 1200$ as I saw).
Thanks again,
Christophe

If your U12 would be dead, the PCB would not spin up the HDA.
