So, I have a Western Digital 'Caviar' external drive. A good friend of mine accidentally plugged the wrong power supply into my drive, as a result the drive no longer spins. I removed the drive from it's enclosure, and tried to install it internally on an old PC that I have. The PC will not recognize the drive either. After a bit of online research, I found out that it might be a PCB problem. I removed the PCB from the drive and indeed it showed signs of damage. I came across a site that has the PCB for sale, and it appears to be an exact match. My question is, can I just swap the burned PCB with the new one, or are there any firmware issues that I should be concerned about. Any help is greatly appreciated. Here are some pics, if it will help:

1st :Try to find a donor PCB and match the PCB number printed on the back side ( xxx-1266-xxx )
2nd : transfer the original ROM (U12) to the donor PCB.

Good luck
