Regards to all,

I was snooping around my old components and found 2 old maxtor drives
one working just fine, but second failing to be recognized by BIOS stating only:

Maxtor RIGEL

model: Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 60 5T030H3 30Gb

tried searching web for solutions, ie: new firmware, boot repair CD's or something, no help.
want to give life to this drive if its possible, any suggestions where to start or what to do ???

thanks.

Without proper (expensive) eqipment and the necessary know how it is IMPOSSIBLE.

Moreover the drive can have reached end of life for sure.

Probably drive got some portions of the FW corrupted. Maxtor drives suffer often from that kind of disease.
They are revived using LDR + RAM which you can easy find here in "HDDGURU FILES". The main problem is that you will need some hardware/software tools to be able to use them, and most hard part - how to use it!
I'm sorry, but i can't help you further.

Hi neighbor ;)

company I work for has electronics department, they might have tools (programmers) I need to flash new ldr+ram, only problem is which loader and what ram? I wasn't able to find any proper files or I am missing something?
or maybe better: if I locate new electronic card for this drive it might work again, its not a mechanical error?

thanks for answer

The LDR+RAM is not "flashable" it is loadable by the ATA connector into the RAM to get drive access by special tool through the ATA for repairing the SA area. :)
On this drive, the programmer you have is good for door stopping only. :)

PCB replacement will not solve media/head issues or even SA problems.
