Who did you buy this from? If it was a shop take it back and get them to fix this. If you took this from a person go to him and get the password from them on this one.

If you just got this and it came with a password they should give you the password but new systems do not come with passwords. I see some bios locked with PW from the manufacture but this one was a long time ago and they do not do this anymore. Here I saw some companies when they build a new PC lock the bios with a password but now they had to stop this one.

Try to get a hold of the person or company you bought this from and see what they tell you on this one

Your ThinkPad probably stores its passwords in an AT24RF08 serial RFID EEPROM on the motherboard:

There are three passwords — Power On Password (POP), Supervisor Password (SVP) and Hard Disk Password (HDP):

Thanks all of you for your anwser.
To poehere, I want to say I buy the pc for a "brocantist" (used material comming from EUROP OR USA)
So i can't get the password. and here in Mali Républic (Africa) there's no manufacturer representantive.

To fzabkar, i say I give the pc to an informatic here, and he try to format the HDD by puting it in another pc, but no success you can't see it.
He propose me to buy a new HDD, but it's verry cost here, and I must earn for latest 4 mounth, to buy it.
Then I see on the net that there are many ways to unlock HDD easyly. that's why I'm loohing for your help.

Thanks again to evrybody and EXCUSE EXCUSE EXCUSE my english. I'm a French speaker.

sngangha, I feel for you bro re the cost of a new HDD on very little money, but, no matter what you've read, HDD passwords just really are 'not' that easy to unlock, that's why they are there.

If you read the links that fzabkar posted and this one HERE you will see that although for your model it 'can' be done, it is far from 'easy'. :(

I searched for quite a while for the 'Holy Grail', the well guarded secret to unlocking HDDs with a simple solution (that's actually what initially lead me to this little techno paradise too lol), but it doesn't exist.

All of the easy fixes with a password removal tool are either wrongly labelled, mis-represented completely, total bull**** or for 'really' old HDDs.

If I were you I would take the laptop back to the brocanist and tell him you want your money back or that he gives you a working/non password protected HDD, one way or another he has conned you. :(

Just my 2 pence worth.

The problem is simpler : we know how to do it but nobody want to have PROBLEMS.

Almost everywhere now it is CRIMINAL OFFENCE to access data you have not the right to, AND/OR even HELP SOMEONE ELSE to do so IN ANY WAY. And the consequences are not exactly pleasant, even for much less important situation.

Premium services "over the net" (for HDD) DO work, but they are not exactly anonymous , this also explain why a declaration from end user or proof of ownership is usually required.

It's even worse for PCs.

He's kinda stuck between a rock & hard place, the info he's reading saying it's easy to do is bogus, it's just not something he's gonna be able to do himself and he's not gonna have access to the tools that can if an HDD is gonna cost 4 months wages.

He also can't prove he's the legit owner if he's got it from one of these 'recycling' schemes (worth a look at a few TV progs on this subject, some right ripoffs going on in UK & Europe let alone the African continent).

As BlackST mentioned there are also those remote services but they'll still cost him a fair bit. Reckon the guy who sold it needs some testicular pressure testing.

sngangha TAKE IT BACK to the bandit who sold it to you!
