I'm doing research for my company to find a inhouse data recovery method via hardware. We have very limited data recovery experience and was wondering is this hardware easy to learn and will it meet our wants.

Dimensions of this product and weight? i had trouble finding this.

If people using this could provide some useful feature lists, pros and cons about this product i'd appreciate it.

3 Major players if you read thro forum there is plenty of info.

Deepspar : drive imager, can cope with bad sectors and drive instability. relatively "plug in and go" with tweaks. PCI card and portable.

Atola: similar spec, standalone units connect to PC for control. Covers some firmware issues etc.
Similarly built for ease of use.

Ace laboratories: The Daddy. More expensive, not intuitive, limits to licensing some people find un-attractive.
PCI and portable. Needs experienced Tech/Eng to get the best out of it, and likely some form of training.

If you are wanting to "keep the lid on" with regards to DR then Atola / Deepspar would suffice.

Lid off and cover as many bases as possible? Acelabs. (also produce SSD/NAND gear)
"Lid off" will also require a good deal more equipment.

Feature lists?
Why not just give any of the guys a call or drop an email. They all have some form of website and literature, are more than happy to offer pre-sales advice and their standard of English is excellent.

Our wants are pretty much a efficient data recovery hardware that we could use in house in the company without worrying about having to send our HDD's out and get them recovered elsewhere.

However we have little or no background with data recovery so i'm not sure if this is for us

MRT Lab is a similar product from China.

The product is fairly new, so the quality of support is unknown. It would be interesting to know whether they are any better at responding to your enquiries.

An alternative might be to invest (if your IT team haven't already) in a robust data loss prevention scheme, computer servicing, and/or a simple education plan for computer users.
Less glamorous but usually more effective.

The trouble is it's like the old chestnut "everyone wants to go to heaven, nobody wants to die to get there."
People seem resistant to preventatives and mitigation: insurance policies, data backup, eating healthily and exercise ... you know the score.

If the powers that be seem resistant too, you could maybe ask them to consider the cost of education versus the cost of ignorance.

Pc3k is a good tool, with that you can manage a lot of problems about HDD failures, but skills an knowledge needed.

Is a very good tool, but not easy to use.

PC-3000 is the tool to choose. It is used by virtually any pro in the industry.
There's no "wizard mode" with a single "Recover all data" button, but despite there's a learning curve like with every at least somehow advanced equipment, it's totally worth studying.

If your DR intentions are serious, PC-3000 is an instrument to implement them.



If this isn't a typo and what you've really been asking about, then there are no reasons to worry. It will surely fit into any room you may be working in.

Hey Dmitri I was wondering if you could assist me with more information. What are some of the pros of the PC-3000 you have experience? and also what are some negative aspects you wish didn't exist regarding this product. I heard that this has limitations in recovery options. Any info would be much appreciated.

DR is not one way and straight forward,as a DR experts,you have to be dynamic and if you still new at this..I recommend you to start studying logical problems with the hard drive..but that does not mean you dont need to buy pc3k...it is good for you to buy pc3k etc..but don't forget that knowledge in this industry is really vital..what is the most important is your skill on how to perform diagnostics

If you only buy one DR tool PC-3000 is the hand's down option with almost no competition. It's 10x more powerful than anything else out there. We have other tools that we use, but PC-3000 is our every day data recovery powerhouse.

However don't misunderstand, it's not a beginners tool. If you're expecting that you can just buy a tool, plug a drive in, press a button and copy data out, you're fooling yourself. Professional data recovery takes years to become proficient, and even longer to get "good" at it. Many of the guys on here are professionals and still come to ask questions to other pros.

If it must be handled in house for security reasons, you might consider buying a PC-3000 plus the Data Extractor software to go with it, and then partner with a professional who can remotely handle work (eliminating the need to send out, and you can monitor what's being done on your screen).

If you're interested in something like that, it might be a viable option. However you'd still need someone with clean room capabilities for the more difficult cases.

Can anyone please clarify with PC-3000 annual maintenance fees, if you skip a year or more, and you want to resume maintenance (for software updates), do you have to pay for all the years skipped?

I've never been asked to, but I've never skipped a year or more.

I've often let the TS lapse for several months while waiting for a new update though

Is the manual for PC-3000 very helpful ?? and how long will it take to start using it after purchase ?

It depends. If you have experience, pc 3000 is a good choice. It is hard to learn.

but, is pc 3000 support new brands of HDD specially WD brands?
