Hello there,

I am new on this and I get interested on this Field,

Now my friend gave me defect Hard Drive, WD3200AAJS Bios Detected but 0.0gb
in Computer Management it also detect but it has " ! " ... I like to bring this HArd Drive to life ..

and also This is my step to learn. I already Backup the ROM ...

No Clicking on the Disk ..

as of now only WD MARVEL only ..

I'm not certain, but ISTM that PUIS is enabled (somewhere in offsets 0x28 - 0x29).

If the drive doesn't spin at all start by using something like HDAT2 to wake up the drive and disable PUIS.

I am now booting the other pc to do ..

while I am reading about HDAT2.. on how to do it ..

Hello mate,

Yes no spinning both drive..

I try HDAT2. no luck ... it errors.

I am now moving for GURU script.. from this thread ...

If PUIS is enabled, then the drive should still spin up when it receives a read or write command, or when it receives and appropriate Set Features subcommand.

Can you show us an Identify Device dump from CrystalDiskInfo? If the drive is PUIS mode, then bit #2 of word #0 should report "Response incomplete". Word #2 defines the conditions for spin-up.

Quote:

If bit 2 of word 0 is set to one, then the content of the IDENTIFY DEVICE data is incomplete. This may occur if the device supports the Power-up in Standby feature set and required data is contained on the device media.

The content of IDENTIFY DEVICE data word 0 and word 2 shall be valid.

Pcb on that model can have problems...is it 701444? If so move Rom to a new pcb-board.

No Serial Number and No FW:
