Sometimes you can load the utility right as it goes ready and before it gets stuck busy, then go in and disable everything in module 93 as fast as you can. Other times it works to just rap on CTL + Z from the second it's powered on and hope to get a T> prompt. If that doesn't work, gotta short the read channel.

I ( Not Expert) had recovered data from many 500dm002 by this way.

After getting F3 T> prompt

In some of my cases without issue any command (don't know how it is) hdd shows in bios and windows with original partitions

if not worked then try clear smart

then if not worked congen and clear smart

still these recovered hdds working without problem

If the OP gains access to terminal prompt what would you do then ?

I would start by disabling media cache, relocation, etc with congen and maybe clear S.M.A.R.T. and see if it helps to remove the drive from BSY state.

If so i would clone the drive.

How did you recover yours ?

Regards !

Spildit ,
I was reading somewhere in your forum or jareds forums .I want to ask your experience in this .Are you folks also erasing glist sometimes for data access ? . That location in the forum said using the i4 command erases g and nrg list both .Secondly assuming the drive has nrg list if we clear smart , clear glist and also clear nrg list [ assuming both are different commands ] and recreate translator then if we write nrg list back will the drive still have partial translator issue ? . in my opinion if the hdd has many bad sectors and partial sector access issue recovery is very hard

Its so important to short the drive at the right time

Read this article from ACE.

http://blog.acelaboratory.com/where-and ... rives.html

As said previously you will see

No HOST FIS-ReadyStatusFlags

If you have shorted the drive at the correct time.

Well,
Last time i had quite some issues with such kinda problem in my case the partition was formatted and overwritten with 32 gb data .I recovered this [ not using any tool mention in this post ] . I will not share this solution

Spildit ,
I do not want to share all knowledge collected via hard experiments .If you had asked me the same i could have pmed you but this is someone i do not know why should i do that .If You Would Like Me To Stop Visiting Your Forums And Ask Question To You Here on HDDguru [ Absolutely No Issue ] . You Are even Free To Delete My Account From your Forums [ Absolutely OK With Me ,Because i never mix work with hobby ] . You Try To Mix Too Many things Together Which is Not Correct [ Might Be Your and My Style of Doing Work Is different ] .

Mr Larry ,
I Never shared That Solution even On DFL Forums [ And Will Never Do it ] . On That Forum i am not even comfortable posting these days leave alone sharing a solution ] .
