Mark....the google translator is not working 100%.
Moltke is saying you need to put the drive into 'safe mode'. You would do that with a special jumper configuration or by starting ZU with only the pcb connected then when the message appears you carefully reconnect the hda to the pcb.

Also I'm not sure about your commands. Might it be /p. or /s. with the '.' ???

My advice would be to find another drive with the same model number. Set a simple password like abc123. You can then carry out a few practice runs until you perfect your method.

Hi dick, thank you for your clarification, yes google translator sometimes fails :D
Ok, i'll try (because i have not the special jumper configuration) remove the pcb from the hdd and i'll follow what you say

I meant that i tried ZU with the /p command and later with the /s command but none worked

thank you

No luck, i remove pcb from the hdd and i connect only to the computer through sata0.
I ran computer with the usb pendrive w98 msdos boot and with the pcb only (from hitachi sata), i run zu with /p and later with the /s command but nothing happen.

I think that i will leave it, i'm not an expert in this hdd field

Maybe a solution is what say member "dick", find another hitachi 5k320 hdd and interchange the pcb, i'll ask to my customer but i don't know........

thanks to all that who helped me.

No you have misunderstood!
I don't say change the pcb I say practice your method on another drive!

You don't seem to have taken note of my advice to use the full stop! eg. '.' or '8'
So take a look at this post on another forum by member fzabkar. It explains clearly what you have to do: http://hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=166

Oh and... que tengas exito!

Hi Dick, the same thing...... i follow the tutorial, i remove 2 screws from the hda controller pcb and i lift with a toothpick, connected to the sata0 in the computer as ide mode. run zu with the /p8 parameter and later i tried with the /s. but nothing happen, only time elapsed 00.00, and i wait until 2 minutes but nothing.

i wonder if this hdd need to be jumper by other method as it say in the tutorial maybe faulting the nvram or shorting specific points on the pcb, i don't know.

thank you for all

That's the correct version.
Important!....you need to make sure Sata0 is your primary controller. Use another working drive and see what ZU reports. I would think until ZU detects a drive there is no point in continuing.

Also it might be possible the computer bios is locking the hard drive so it can't be written to?
Maybe you could boot the system without the hard drive connect. Then connect the drive data and power cables. Then run ZU and try to detect the drive.

edit: I see Moltke is here. You are in good hands now!

Hi, i think that i have a problem, i tried with other sata hd 2.5" that runs perfect and i can access under windows 10 and under msdos i can't access it, no recognize the hdd. I don't know if there should be a specific configuration in bios. i wonder if is a problem with the boot files in pendrive, this pendrive have windows 98 boot, basic autoexec.bat and config.sys files. I have read that msdos no recognize sata hdd or i don't know how to do for detect it.
There is no unit to detect the sata hdd, i try a: b: c:(pendrive) d: ......... z: nothing detect hdd sata only detect the pendrive in c: with the boot system

Please could you tell me how runs yours system for detect hdd sata under msdos with zu program? what boot files do you use? what configuration un config.sys or autoexec.bat is ok?

Hi moltke, i have no way to connect this hdd in primary channel in this computer, chipset is "intel z97".
I think that one solution would be that ZU could works with the pci controller, but to this day zu no works with these option.
