Dear colleagues, i don't know if it is the right place to ask a question, but i hope you'll help me or show me the right direction.
There is a need to perform hdd secure wiping ... all the software utilities and scripts which provide this action they sequentially fill the data table with different symbols some number of cycles. so they run through all the hdd capacity few times.
but we need to decrease the time to perform this action.
could you please advise the other method if it is possible.
also i've an idea to reformat the partition, but i'm not shure whether the reformatting of the ntfs partition to ext3 can guaranty that it will not be available to restore the information.
thank you in advance

Secure wiping takes time i'm afraid there is no shortcut to it. But you can always smash it with a sledgehammer

Such format is not equal to secure erasure. Moreover, Ext metadata barely intersects NTFS one.
It should be enough to scan the drive "as NTFS" with some data recovery software to get a result which will be far from zero.

I have signed up to the forum thinking that what I know may of use to some and perhaps I will be able to help! Boy was I wrong! Turns out I know close to nothing about hard drives and it is a miracle I haven't blown up my computer yet. So I humbly switch my goal from teaching and helping to learning and receiving help.
