I succeeded reading the ROM

But in both Toshiba and USB utilities I can't find the one to write it.

Apparently there is only the read command

My idea is to avoid heating donor boards moving and removing chips.

So my point of reading the ROM is next to write it in the donor board.

Well.. if any ROM code compatibility checking is possible, the thing sounds as it could be possible to run a "loolks like smooth" process.

The idea is to do as with WD drives. There read from the USB and write into the SATA works straight with all the USB boards numbers/models (except one that makes me crazy, but that's anbother story)

Does the idea of a compatible ROM make any sense for Toshiba drives? If the firmware is mostly contained within the ROM, and if the SA contains only drive specific stuff like SMART and G-list, then does it matter if the ROM firmware is a different version?

PC3k can read it but not write, i guess MRT can read it too (could somebody confirm?), writing is possible using a terminal prog (on most families).

Alternative is reading ROM in circuit via clip and programmer. Have not physically moved a ROM on a hardrive for years
