 Post subject: WD HDD Sometimes not recognize by PC

Hi all,

I have a problem with my old WD 3.5 inch Harddrive.
So long short story one day my HDD is not recognize by my PC, and I got my family photos on that harddrive.

Can you guys help me to find out what happen to my HDD?

Is it really your drive in the video?
Or is it a test hard drive? (which I hope so)

What a difference now.
Running an open disk with loose heads is to kill the surface of the plates.

Well unfortunately I got panic the other day and doing everything on Internet to save my disk.

But I learn not to open my disk again :) thanks to you all.
And can I still get the answer? So when something like this happen again I will know what to do.

Definitely bad sectors and firmware issues. Good chance of mechanical problem, too.

It's a shame you opened your hard drive without letting a pro take a peek first. Then you might have a definitive answer (and your family photos) :(
