So the drive is not locked. I don't have any experience with drives above 7K4000, (this one has completely different architecture) but it is possible that one of the heads holding SA is bad.

I have 2 similar drives , but 4 TB.They are ok.
When they start - i can clearly hear the sounds of the the heads.Тhis is also felt if I hold the disc carefully in my hand.

This one WD80EFAX - only spinning sound.
When try some test soft and need restart the PC - 2 or 4 beeb like sounds, but i am sure - no sound from heads.

Wouldn't a password locked HDD still report correct SMART info?

Does "not enabled" and "locked" make sense for a password locked HDD?

What is your recommendations ?
Can I do something to return this drive from silence ?

I'm not a DR pro. Others have suggested that the drive may have an internal fault.

AISI, your PCB test confirms that the drive's Identify Device data ("passport") is stored in the ROM on the PCB, and the SMART gibberish suggests that the drive is unable to access the Service Area (SA) on the platters where the real SMART data are stored.

In short, it doesn't appear that there is a DIY solution. Moreover, this drive's firmware architecture is not yet supported by commercial data recovery tools, IIUC.

I'm betting that the PCB is worth more than you may have paid for the drive, so you might still come out ahead.

In fact, I paid $ 30 for the disc.
In this case, I prefer to put it somewhere in my closet until a way is found to find out exactly what its problem is.
