Hello ,
I need to backup ATA overlay for the family U6 as i need to use selfscan on this drive , pc3k pci does not support this drive and its ATA Overlay address is not mentioned in the manual as well . I just need to know from which address to backup this part and till how many
sectors.

well in pci pc3000 can support to backup ata 1 module but take lot of time.. but in salvation in 1 min u can backup the module very fast without any bug....

For U6 series u can use pc3k ISA version.....have support for this hdd and u can backup all modules.

It takes alot of time because it takes backup of all the sectors of the ATA OVL as for salvation data takes selected data out of the hdd and pc3k pci is much much faster as it works with pc-usb cable whose transfer rate is 115000bps and salvation works with the COM port whose baud rate is 9600bps .

As far as U6 is concern, it doesn't need writing up any perticular "module" to the drive for the selfscan to take effect. Whoever told you to need is writing ATA for U6 is fake. For these drives, all you need to prepare a specially prepared (rather say, modified) ROM for the selfscan to complete successfully. Otherwise, the selfscan wills stick in an infiinite loop.

Selfscan starts in the same process like it does in another drives i did not understand about the infinite loop thing i have never read or heard such a thing .
I started selfscan on these drives after completion it says ata overlay failed that means that i have to rewrite the orignal ATA overlay back to the drive (correct me if i am wrong) .
The address of the ata overlay of U6 families is not mentioned in the manual so need to know .
About writing the keys with isa , ISA does not support writing keys with terminal it uses IDE interface instead . Is there any way i could write overlay with terminal because hdd does not become ready after selfscan.

for u6 selfscan call "CERT TEST".
so you need special ROM files (CERT ROM) write to PCB replace original ROM(AT ROM) start CERT TEST. at the same time need write flow files CSPT, this files like CERT TABLE of barracuda hdd.

Where can i get this special modified ROM from ? So that means that i cannot start selfscan using the extended selfscan command in pci .
