im not very expirineced with HDDs but i have knowlidge in Computers , i work in service .
Now my HDD on private PC is dead becouse of faulty power supply (low voltages 12 - 11.4 / 5 - 4.5 )
and now i changed my PSU and my HDD now wont spin up i hear only 2 sounds like low and high tones ,its like it want to start but cant...

what can be ? the spindel , the controller ? and the worst problem is that my HDD not have label with info on it i dont know exact model and firmware :(

im thinking of buyng new HDD same as this but i dont know firmware and model i think there is only 1 model 320 GB 16 cache SATA2 7200 made within 2 years 2007 or 2006 im not sure.

i will wait your advice , thank you

Hi,

posting here pictures of the drive (PCB and cover side) could help identifying the drive.
Also if u could record the sound and upload somewhere....
However i have a feeling it will be spindle related.

It sounds like a siezed spindle.
Look for a pro in your area.

Pepe probably closest one to you.

That's a Hitachi VLA380, and I can think of the following 3 causes:
1. the spindle is seized 80%,
2. Heads stuck onto the surface 15%,
3. Burnt motor winding 4%,
4. Driver circuit problem 1%

no user servicable damage... U need pro help

Hardverspecialist is right, I can help you with this.

Pepe is right.

You can't solve this, you can do only more problems.
If you need your data, seek for professional help.

Pro can do special* platter swap to another HDA and read out your data.

*the platters should move together, because a little (some micron) move from each other or from center will eliminate the recovery.

The drive will never be good for use only can survive one complete reading process.
