In fact, most of you sell circuit boards. How would ending your circuit board sales outlet here be of benefit to you? As near as I can tell, your circuit board and repair source drive sales could easily be cut in half or more if you cut the noobs and amateurs off.

Now, that is funny!

For some reason I don't see you offering help to other members, but you would love to enjoy a free advice.

This forum is for people with data recovery skills that want to share their experiences with other people who has DR skills....

...but for some reason, some people think we have to help them, like we are being paid for that.
...you giving them advice not to do anything , because it will hurt chances of recovery, but they telling you to f..k off and mind your own business.

This is exactly what I meant.

You just stated everything I needed to know in your posts.

You want free stuff, free advice and etc.,
I don't want to pick parts from dumpsters, that is why I spent years studying and learning.

I am sure you don't sell yourself for free and charging your customers as much as you feel necessary.

This forum won't have any effect on income of most of the people providing help here, so don't try to warn me or others that they might loose their sales.

I am doing a data recovery myself, but i'm concern this forum will eventually either destroy or jeopardise our data recovery business.
.

I'd doubt that this forum will have any real impact on our business - to be fair, non-professioanl people posting questions on this site are either:

1: interested in learning our skills and techniques (how exactly are you going to find your next new staff with skills??)

2: going to realise very quickly that data recovery is generally beyond the average person, and seek professional assistance

3: has no money for our services anyway - isn't it better that they waste time posting silly Q's here than asking you by phone??

4: a complete idiot who should never be left alone with electronic equipment and a screwdriver (see point # 3)

---------------------------------!

I believe that it would be good to have a private area of the forum for DR professionals only - open only to verified DR professionals. this way we can share information without having to sift through endless "end-user" questions

An Example (posted just yesterday)
" Hi all. I've got a Maxtor HDD that's maybe a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 45 drive, but can't be sure, because the sticker's off. What I know is the drive's capacity - 20GB and the PCB reads NEBULA 301334101.
The problem:
Suddenly the drive stopped working and would not spin up at all.
Could this be solved by replacing the PCB?"

This person obviously has no DR skills, - and is hoping for a quick, cheap fix. I dont have a problem with people trying to save a $ or two. - this person should really be looking for (or prompted to find) a nearby DR professional to assist with this one (assuming they are actually wanting to recover data - and not just 'fix' a broken old drive )

Maybe there should be a 'marketplace' section to this forum where people can find the nearest DR firm!!

= my $0.02 worth :)

if non-professional people want to take the risk go ahead
loose your data forever
which i have seen a lot of now

but there are allways secrets that people wont tell others
how to do it :(

@Gasman
I´ve spoken to the collegue of the owner of the DR company I deal with:
He stated, that since the external drives really became available in the mass market,
their business grew extra ordinary.

The usual end user does not save data correctly (they do not have the information):
They just copy the important files to the external drive and sometimes they store
it there and nowhere else .... But when it comes to set up the system again - they
are helpless.

I.e. last week I got the typical WD MyBook with 2x 500GB drives in it, used as
"Raid 0" - usually one drive is dead - in this case where both drives dead...
All his personal pictures where stored there (and nowhere else) to be save....

I gained customers - and for those who are willing to listen (the mass is not, is
lazy and inconsequent) and willing to pay the price, I offer a nearly perfect external
backup solution.

I lost my cell phone yesterday and ordered today in my lunch break a
new one at the electronic store. I just entered the store to heare a
customer speaking to sales person: ".... according to the sound of
my hard disk, I assume it is the motor which I have to replace. I had
problems to start the system the last two weeks, but now it does
not start windows any more ....."

Two weeks confronted with a severe problem and made nothing!
And now - thinking about changing the motor of the hdd and discussing
that with staff of a electronic store - where one can buy toothbrush,
TV-sets, batteries etc. ...

I spoke to him - and wonder whether I will see him in our office...?

I'm not sure what you're implying but it doesn't bother me if you're trying to talk shit about me. I can handle it. My job is secure, as well as my knowledge. I am not allowed to say half of the things I know because I am not on here representing my company, which I don't own, I just work for. I never asked for their permission to be on here in any fashion to represent them and I don't want to. I just come on here to see if there's any good info, network with people in the industry and to help if it's something that I can get away with (NDA rules). Other than that I'm very secure in my abilities. I try to stay away from word arguments with the likes of yourself. You've drawn me into one once before because I was simply trying to keep people's conversation on topic and to act professionally but it won't happen again.

I'm know I'm a pro and I'm not scared by anybody's ability on this site. I'm not discounting the abilities of those on here, I'm just saying that my paycheck will outlast the recession and much further. So, as my reply said, a real pro isn't worried about this forum.

Say what you will hddguy and whomever else.

This forum might jeopardise your bread and butter if your bread and butter consists of windows blue screen of death, and the odd blown TVS.

I prefer fillet steak and I only share it with friends. 8)

Again this topic is HOT and controversial.

This forum will not jeopardize our business if some member understand what is the impact in future if they keep breeding newbies and eventually the newbie will become their competitors.

IMHO we should not share what we have learnt from our hard earning knowledge to others , UNLESS you know that person regularly contributing in this forum.

For me i do not share my knowledge to newbie or people who have few posts, instead I ask them to go to their closest data recovery company.
