You can, but you'll have to replace the eeprom chip also.

Its an 8-pin chip on the pcb. Marking like 25P... If you dont replace it the drive will click and you wont be able to access the data.

How do i know if the 8-pin chip from the bad pcb is working so that i put it in the working pcb?

Can this be done without unsoldering and soldering

I never had a defective one. You can use an ohm-meter to measure the impedance between the supply voltages and the signallines. If there are no shorts it should be ok.

Agree,
in my experience, also with drives with badly burned PCBs or at least combo chips not a single flash chip has suffered so far. It may be possible, but the only way to check is to solder it to the donor PCB and give it a try.

do you need a special hot air gun for soldering-desoldering or can be done with simple soldering iron?

Thanks

8 pin can be done with a soldering iron if you know what you're doing. If you don't, you can ruin the PCB with either tool.

Blob solder across all pins on one side, and then the other very quickly. Slide chip off and remove excess solder.

If you are going to use that PCB you need to resoder the chip
Otherwise it will not work
Those PCBs are from different drive families

so if you have
exact match in the board number 2061-001160-100b and here WD1200JB-00DUA0 then do you still have to swapp the rom chip?

I changed only the pcb and the drive came alive it clicks it reports a size of 8,4 gb but is not accessible

I made the experience that it never worked for me without swapping the flash ROM.
