I have the same question about an Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8 6E040L0. I have the tool to upload the firmware to the drive, but I don't have the firmware (it requires original firmware from Maxtor and they don't give it away to anybody). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys.. I am from Indonesia.
Your problem with Aduntoredas is a simple problem.

You can use PC3000 to solve this problem.
Just download the firmware from site : http://www.hddlba.com

But first, you must check first about Specification of HDD.

Just example :
Maxtor N40P : Family.
Maxtor 6E040LO : Model.
NAR61590 : Firmware.
KMCA : Alphabetic Value.
HDA, PCBA, Unique : 510611 - AAA.
62E1 : CSR in LDR.

The sample of Configuration HDD must correct with the MODULE and MODULE GROUP (*.RPM and *.SMB) while you re-write it with PC3000.
Just testing the UBA to make sure MODULE was correct.
I know that not easy, but ......

Try it....
