I have found that most drives are quite tolerant to some misalignment. I have done some tests on drives and found some interesting things out. I am not going to share anything at this point because it is still all a work in progress.

What I would recommend is other people trying this sort of stuff out themselves and see what they find

I havent had chance yet. Still waiting for client to approve the additional costs. May I recommed that when testing alignment issues, use disks with real data on. After you misalign platter, test files.
