J2 is the connector for the preamp and voice coil.

I can't answer your RADIX question, though. Whatever it is, it appears to be associated with the motor controller IC.

Hi again ...

Sorry about the confusion. I have a bunch of hard disks (dead or alive) and gave the above one the wrong diagnostic :
BIOS finds it, but not Windows. It does not appear with the other peripherals.

Try running a diagnostic from a bootable CD or flash drive.

Nothing works if the drive is recognised as 'Maxtor ATHENA' instead of 'Maxtor 2B0xHx' even if you cry. Until drive is fixed.

RADIX is the Radial Index Mark (Part of servo subsystem)

Hello Everybody,
Hello Stripy,

I've got something you will maybe need. It seems to match your model. BUT, the problem is the following: it starts, it spins but it clicks-clicks-clicks... I'd eventually like to save it before throwing it away. Could someone tell me what I could do with it ?
Too, I wondered what are those RADIX and J2 connectors on the PCB.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers.
