Does a new drive have one copy as CN or NCR and another as AN or NAR.

Do both copies appear in the new drive as NAR and once some errors occur the drive itself changes one copy to NCR ??
Hi, Fujimax,
The 2 copies are identical, and the FW program code changes the FW code report to NCR.

If drive ID's with NCR firmware you are then running from ALTERNATE SA area

I disagree...
The corruption of ANY important module can take the drive into the ALTERNATE mode as "NCR" If you had success with rewriting the module 1F that simply means that the module 1F was corrupt and that caused the drive's "NCR" issue. Once that module was fixed - drive started working.
So, it's not because of 1F module. That can be with any module. I had situations where I had to fix just Glist, Plist and some other modules that "switch" the drive into "NCR".
Just sharing the info...

Hi, anyone know how to (and use what to) save my working 6e040l0 to N40P? Do I have to set the drive to the safe mode? And how do I set it to safe mode?
