Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi folks,
I have a Samsung SP2504C that spins up, makes a series of about ten faint seek sounds, then sounds normal. In MHDD it is busy while making the seek sounds, then goes ready, but any attempt to do anything to the drive causes busy to light and stay lit.
Here is the terminal log:
- Code:
SPW 0000 NoLk
lltst 0000
SpnOk
spd: 0000 0000 0000
H: +00000

And here is the terminal log from a functional SP2504C:
- Code:
SPW 0000 NoLk
lltst 0000
SpnOk
spd: 0000 0000 0000

Any thoughts?

Check the MC. Smart or some log invalid / trashed? Check carefully the error lists and translator. Last: check the other mods.

The fun part is that Salvation has not released their Samsung module yet and I don't have a PC3K.

That's why I have custom solutions...

You don't need either...
BTW, something looks suspected with PCB....have you tried replacing it?

Yep, that was the first thing I tried. Other drive works fine with either, this drive doesn't work with either.
Seems like I could get the job done with terminal commands, but references for samsung commands seem difficult to come by. PMs are always welcome.

No term command will help, it's not seagate. Unless you want to send the mc sector by sector...

Any suggestions then, before I write this off as not-doable-by-me?

Should it be read, "Period"?
